Fraino Nets Game Winner to Clinch #3 Seed in AMCC Tournament

PITTSBURGH, PA – Robert Fraino headed home the game-winner eight minutes into overtime to give La Roche men's soccer (8-8, 7-2) a 3-2 OT win over Pitt-Greensburg (11-5-1, 5-4) and clinch the #3 seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament. The victory also sets a school record for most conference wins in a single season.

Pitt-Greenburg took an early lead but Tyler Irwin tied it at 1-1 with an incredible goal in the 16th minute. Irwin stole a Pitt-Greensburg clear and placed a perfect shot from 40 yards out. Bryan Weimerskirch followed by giving the Redhawks a lead late in the first half when he booted a Chad Trozzi cross left of a diving goalkeeper.

After Pitt-Greensburg answered, it looked as if La Roche took a 3-2 lead when Gilbert Uwineza put a rebound past the Pitt-Greensburg goalkeeper, however he was whistled for a foul shortly before his strike. Fraino's heroics followed only minutes later when he headed in a beautiful free kick from Irwin.

Irwin finished with 3 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Fraino and Weimerskirch netted a goal apiece. Trozzi registered an assist and goalkeeper Nick Sabol made 3 stops including a stellar save on a breakaway.

La Roche men's soccer will rematch the Bobcats on Saturday in an AMCC Tournament First Round game. The site and time of the game is still yet to be determined.
