Redhawks Get Stellar Defensive Effort in Loss to Medaille

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche men's soccer (6-7, 5-2) played a stellar defensive game in a thrilling 2-1 loss to Medaille College (13-2, 6-1) in conference play on Saturday.

The visiting Mavericks got a one goal lead just two minutes into the contest before Yousef Barqawi headed in a beautiful cross from Mark D'Uva to tie it at 1-1 apiece. The Redhawks went a man down just five minutes into the second half and fought valiantly, however Medaille got the win after a goal in the 85th minute.

Barqawi scored his third goal of the season and registered 5 shots while Mark D'Uva added his first assist of the year. La Roche's backline played fantastic soccer in the loss.

The Redhawks were outshot for just the second time all season but attempted 5 more corner kicks than Medaille.

La Roche men's soccer will look to rebound when they travel to Hilbert College on Saturday, October 20. The Hawks enter the game in fourth place in the AMCC Conference standings.
