D'Uva Buries PK in Loss to Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, PA – La Roche men's soccer (1-3) outshot and outplayed Geneva College (3-2) but found itself on the losing end of a 4-1 game on Monday afternoon.

The Redhawks recorded 4 of the first 5 shots but went down 3-0 after the host Golden Tornadoes scored goals on a header, penalty kick, and a corner kick. La Roche answered quickly in the second half when Mark D'Uva drilled a PK for his third career goal. Bryan Weimerskirch had a quality chance to cut the lead to one in the 74th minute but his shot barely caught a piece of the Geneva goalkeeper.

Weimerskirch, Ryan Luffey, and Tyler Irwin each had 2 shots and 7 Redhawks registered at least one shot apiece. La Roche outshot the host Golden Tornadoes 13-9 and attempted 5 more corner kicks. La Roche also committed 6 fewer fouls.

La Roche men's soccer will look to get back on track when they travel to St. Vincent College on Friday. Mark D'Uva scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over the Bearcats last season.
