Redhawks Win Big Over Wells on Senior Day

McCANDLESS, Pa. - LRU men's lacrosse picked up their first conference win of the season Saturday afternoon against Wells College, 11-2. The Redhawks nine goal margin of victory is their largest since March 16th, 2014. For just the third time in the last ten years, men's lacrosse has started their season 2-2 overall. LRU led for the duration of Saturday's contest.

The Seniors

La Roche's five seniors, Brent Burkhouse, Austen Lunt, Shawn McDanel, Paxton Thomas and Devin Wolford all contributed in the victory.

Brent Burkhouse (Pittsburgh, PA/ Plum) tied his career with six points (three goals, three assists). Burkhouse also had two ground balls and caused a turnover. Burkhouse's three assists on the day make him tied for second most in program history.

Shawn McDanel (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) had his second straight four point game. McDanel tallied three goals, an assist and a game-high 12 ground balls. McDanel won 11 of 15 faceoffs and tallied a caused turnover.

Devin Wolford (Allison Park, PA/Hampton) posted a goal and two assists. Wolford has had two or more points in all four games this season.

Austen Lunt (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) had a goal, an assist, two caused turnovers and two ground balls.

First-year player Paxton Thomas (Doral, FL / Doral Senior) tallied two caused turnovers on some big hits.

The Freshmen

The newcomers stepped up as well in Saturday's 11-2 victory.

Sebastian Colinear (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) scored his first collegiate goal and tallied two assists for a season-high three points.

Jordi Farr (Fleetwod, PA/Schuylkill Valley) had two goals and an assist. Farr has notched multiple points in all four games this season and ranks third on the team with 10 total.

Nathan Petrarco (Norwin, PA/Norwin) had four ground balls and a game-high three caused turnovers.

In Net

Junior goalkeeper Chris Sylvis had whopping 89.5% save percentage, the best in a single game in his career. Sylvis made a season-high 17 saves and had three ground balls.

Inside the Box Score

LRU was successful of 22 of 23 clear attempts.

The Redhawks scored 11 goals on only 15 shots on goal.
