Men's Lacrosse Faces Wells on Senior Day

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The La Roche University men's lacrosse team will face off against Wells College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup Saturday morning at the Baierl Athletic Complex. The game will begin at 11:00 a.m. La Roche's five seniors: Brent Burkhouse, Austen Lunt, Shawn McDanel, Paxton Thomas and Devin Wolford will be honored in a brief pre-game ceremony beginning at 10:45 a.m. Although no spectators will be permitted, family, friends and fans can watch the ceremony on the live stream.

La Roche News and Notes

  • The Redhawks are currently 1-2 so far this season. Their sole win came against Hiram in their season opener on March 20th by a score of 10-3.
  • Senior Devin Wolford (Allison Park, PA/Hampton) was named the LRU Athlete of the Week on March 22nd. Wolford leads the team in points with nine and is tied first in goals with six.
  • Senior Shawn McDanel scored a game-high four goals in his return to play last Saturday against Penn College. McDanel also went an impressive 18-22 (.818) in faceoffs against the Wildcats.
  • Freshman Jordi Farr (Fleetwod, PA/Schuylkill Valley) is tied first on the team in goals with six this season.
  • Seniors Brent Burkhouse (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) and Austen Lunt (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) each have three goals and three assists (six points) in 2021.
  • Freshman Nathan Petrarco (Norwin, PA/ Norwin) leads the Redhawks in caused turnovers with 15 and is second in ground balls with 12.
  • In net, Chris Sylvis has made 35 saves and has a 57.4 save percentage which ranks 48th in the country.

Wells News and Notes

  • The Wells Express is currently 0-3 this season and still in search of their first win.
  • NEAC opponent Morrisville St. defeated Well on April 9th, 20-0.
  • The Express have been outscored by their opponents 57-7 in 2021.
  • Jacob Stine leads the team with three goals and Justin leads with two assists.
  • Goalkeeper Jeronimo Camou has started in all three games. He has 38 saves and a 40.0% save percentage.
