Men's Lacrosse Drops Conference Opener vs. Penn College

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The La Roche men's lacrosse team fell to Penn College Sunday afternoon in their North Eastern Athletic Conference opener at the Baierl Athletic Complex, 16-8. The Redhawks are now 1-2 on the season. After missing last game due to injury, senior Shawn McDanel led LRU with four goal, 13 ground balls and a caused turnover.

How it Happened

The Wildcats got off to a hot start in the first period, scoring the first three goals of the game in less than six minutes to go up 3-0. Penn College would retain the lead the duration of the contest.

Devin Wolford put the Redhawks on the board in the final minute of the second off an assist from Austen Lunt. Less than 30 seconds later Shawn McDanel cut the deficit to one with a goal off his own off an assist from Wolford.

Penn College then scored six unanswered goals to up 9-2. Jordi Farr scored in the 8th minute of the third off an assist from Lunt. The Wildcats then scored two more goals to make it 11-3. LRU would score two more goals late in the third and three in the fourth.

McDanel led the Redhawks in goals (4) and ground balls (13).

Austen Lunt had a game-high three assists. Lunt has had multiple points in five of his last seven games dating back to last season.

Freshman Jordi Farr recorded his first collegiate career hat-trick. Farr has posted two or more points in all three games this season.

Devin Wolford had a goal and an assist. Wolford has had multiple points in every game this season and leads the team with nine.

Brent Burkhouse and Isaiah Hubbard each notched an assist.
