McDanel Tallies 7 Goals But Redhawks Fall at Medaille

BUFFALO, NY -- Shawn McDanel scored a career-high 7 goals but the La Roche University Redhawks ultimately fell at Medaille 15-10. The Redhawks are now 2-12 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

La Roche took control early and entered the first break with a 5-3 advantage. McDanel needed just thirteen minutes to register a hat trick, evening the Mavericks with three first quarter goals. Mitchell Bachman and Nick Sylvis also scored goals in the opening period.

Devin Wolford answered a Medaille goal early in the second quarter for a 6-4 La Roche lead. Medaille follwed with 6 of the next 7 scores, and despite another McDanel goal, entered halftime with a 10-7 advantage.

Medaille carried the advantage into the second half, opening the third quarter with four straight tallies. The Redhawks refused to give up, and McDanel followed with three straight scores to get back within four.

The Mavericks got one back in the fourth quarter and went on to earn the five goal victory.

McDanel finished with 12 ground balls in addition to his 7 goals. Bachman and Sylvis each had a goal and 2 assists while Wolford had a goal and assist. Burkhouse dished out 2 assists.

Anthony Manuel forced 2 turnovers and John Aiello picked up 5 ground balls. Chris Sylvis made 12 saves in the defeat.
