Lacrosse Falls to Talented Alvernia Squad

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The La Roche Men's Lacrosse team dropped a 20-6 game to a talented Alvernia squad on Saturday afternoon. The Redhawks enter spring break at 1-6 overall and 1-0 in the AMCC Conference. 

La Roche fought for all sixty minutes, but Alvernia's depth allowed them to head home with the victory. Nick Sylvis led the Redhawks with two goals and an assist. Devin Wolford tallied two goals while Jake Podsiadly had a goal and two assists. Shawn McDanel dished out two assists while Brent Burkhouse extended his goal streak to four games.

John Aiello paced the Redhawk defense, forcing 4 turnovers. Podsiadly caused 3 turnovers and Jimmy Wodarek two. McDanel picked up a game-high 14 ground balls and went 16-30 in the faceoff circle.

Chris Sylvis had a strong perfomance in net, pushing aside 20 shots. 

The Redhawks will travel to Mt. St. Joseph on Monday.
