LaBovick Tallies 9 Goals, Breaks School's Single Game Record

PITTSBURGH, PA -- Senior Brad LaBovick made his last game at the Baierl Athletic Complex a memorable one. LaBovick broke the school's single game goal record with 9 on Wednesday against Franciscan. The previous record was 7, held by LaBovick and Jeremy Zang.

The Redhawks had their strongest offensive performance of the season. They held a 5-4 lead in the second quarter, but ran out of gas and fell to Franciscan 26-12.

LaBovick finished with 9 goals and an assist. Austen Lunt had 2 goals and 3 assists while Brent Burkhouse had a goal and 2 assists.

Shawn McDanel's excellence on faceoffs allowed La Roche to control play. McDanel won 32 of 42 faceoffs and tallied 31 ground balls. He now leads the nation by over three ground balls per game.

Goalkeeper Charlie King made 16 saves.

Franciscan opened with a 4-0 lead, but LaBovick got the Redhawks on the board with 1:55 left in the first quarter.

The Redhawks busted out for four goals to start the second quarter. Lunt provided a man-up goal at the 13:39 mark while Burkhouse and LaBovick (2) added goals over the next minute and a half.

Franciscan answered with four straight goals, but LaBovick struck for two more and a 9-7 game at halftime.

Franciscan took control in the second half and held on for the victory.

The Redhawks close the season on Saturday at Alfred State.
