Westminster Holds Off La Roche

NEW WILMINGTON, PA -- The Redhawks battled through the cold and snow to tie their season-high in goals, but ultimately fell at Westminster 24-7.

Charlie King made his second straight appearance at midfield. The coaching decision paid immediate dividends as King cut the deficit to 3-1 just four minutes into the game. Brent Burkhouse set up a pair of goals in the second quarter. Shawn McDanel was the recipient at the 11:08 mark and Alex Riegel 4:04 later.

Westminster carried a 14-3 lead into halftime but the never give up Redhawks continued to fight in the second half. Austen Lunt fired a shot into the back of the net early in the third quarter. 

King got on the scoreboard again in the fourth quarter while Lunt and Burkhouse also tallied goals.

Lunt finished with 2 goals and 2 assists and extended his goal streak to seven games. He ranks fourth in the AMCC in goals and is tops among freshmen. 

Burkhouse now leads the team in assists after registering a goal and two assists. Charlie King got on the board twice while McDanel and Riegel had a goal apiece.

McDanel finished with 18 ground balls and continues to be tops in the nation in ground balls. He also forced 4 turnovers and ranks thirteenth nationally. 

Joel Chavez made 11 saves.
