
PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche overcame a four goal third quarter deficit to beat Westminster and send the seniors out with an incredible 13-12 victory. Jim Mckee had an end-to-end goal, Dom Deltondo 3 assists and Isaiah Wilson registered the win.
The Redhawks and Westminster ended the first quarter deadlocked at 3-3. Sam Crum put La Roche ahead just 2:47 into the game when he shot low passed the Titans' goalkeeper. Westminster responded less than a minute later but Ajay Hamer buried a feed from Nick Antenucci to take a 2-1 lead. The Titans scored the next two goals but Crum netted his second of the game to tie it before the first intermission.
Brad LaBovick and Jim McKee each scored second quarter goals with McKee taking the ball from endline-endline. The Redhawks entered the half trailing 9-5 but they held a 23-17 advantage in shots.
La Roche refused to give up and put together an incredible third quarter to get back into it. The Redhawks scored five goals in a row following a quick two scores by Westminster. Hamer got things going and LaBovick, Crum and Vinnie DiMarco also found the scoresheet in the quarter. Hamer got La Roche within a goal entering the fourth.
The Redhawks gave it their all in the fourth and limited Westminster to just one score. McKee made an incredible diving save on an open net to start things off and Hamer tied it on the other end of the field.
La Roche trailed by a goal with less than four minutes left before LaBovick snuck through the defense and beat the keeper to his weak side. DiMarco found the game-winner with two minutes left and Wilson came up with a big stop to preserve the win. La Roche forced six Titan turnovers in the quarter including three by Gino DiPerna.
Hamer led the Redhawks with 4 goals and an assist while LaBovick and Crum had 3 goals and 2 assists. DiPerna and Antenucci each forced five turnovers and Antenucci picked up six ground balls.
