PITTSBURGH, PA – Mike Kenski and Dustin Reykdal scored 3 goals apiece and Eugene LaBorde made 17 saves in La Roche Men's Lacrosse's (5-9) 20-8 loss to Otterbein University (5-4) on a rainy Saturday on campus.
The Redhawks held a 4-3 advantage and momentum twenty-five minutes into the contest, but Otterbein scored a shorthanded goal to get back into the game. Despite great play in net by LaBorde, La Roche was unable to hold onto the lead.
Bryce Wells and Jean-Guillaume Thouin scored goals in addition to Kenski's and Reykdal's three each. Brad Nylen led La Roche on defense with 6 ground balls and 2 forced turnovers. Shawn Teixeira won 54% (13 for 24) of his face-offs.
La Roche was outshot 52-43 but equaled the visiting Cardinals in ground balls (35-35) and face-offs (16-16), while edging out Otterbein in turnovers (10-7).
The Redhawks will look to rebound when they host Medaille College on Wednesday. This is the first meeting between the schools.
