La Roche Upended By #10 Calvin In Great Lakes Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – La Roche men's basketball ended its trip at the Great Lakes Invitational against its third straight top 25 opponent, this time #10 Calvin, who defeated the Redhawks 74-54.

La Roche was in charge early, holding what was a 10-8 lead over the nationally ranked Knights with 11:49 remaining.

However, the remainder of the first half was all Calvin, outscoring the Redhawks 27-7 the rest of the half to take a 35-17 lead into the half.

Out of the half, La Roche used the first 8:17 to trim what became at one point early in the second half a 22-point deficit, down to 15.

It was the closest the Redhawks would climb back, as the Knights would build upon its lead to 26 points to close the door on the afternoon.

For the game, La Roche finished the day going 20-for-68 (29.4%) from the floor, and 9-for-31 (29%) from three. From the foul line, the Redhawks capitalized on just five of nine attempts (55.6%).

On the other side, Calvin finished 26-for-51 (51%) from the field, and 7-for-15 (46.7%) from deep, while going 15-for-21 from the foul line.

La Roche was led offensively by senior Isaiah Thomas who scored a team best 14 points.

Junior Dominic Elliot was the only other Redhawk to enter double figures, ending the day with 11 points.

La Roche's four game road trip continues on Tuesday, Nov. 21, as it travels to New Concord, Ohio for a matchup against Muskingum. Opening tip against the Muskies is set for 7 p.m.
