La Roche Earns a 45-Point Win over Barons

PITTSBURGH, PA - Men's basketball will start their Holiday Break on a high note, after a 86-41 victory over the Franciscan Barons.

Four Redhawks achieved double-digits in tonight's contest, the leader being Devon Darrell. Darrell netted 14 points and went four-for-four at the foul line.

Jordan "Six" Grayson was the next in line collecting 13 points. Finally, the two big men for La Roche, Dom Elliot, and Isaiah Thomas each earned 12 points.

Only playing 13 minutes senior, Joe Pipilo, led the team in rebounds with 6.

Several components led to the Redhawks' success today, but two stood out the most. The defense was on their A-Game and caused 28 turnovers out of the Barons, resulting in 31 points for La Roche. The second was attacking the paint. This was something that the team struggled with against Baldwin Wallace. They set out today to turn that around and they did. La Roche earned 44 points in the paint; doubling their opponent.

As the Redhawks worked to have a wide margin, some reserves were able to get into the game, some for the first time this season. They capitalized on this time, as the La Roche bench accounted for 38 points out of the final 86.

The team will take some time off to celebrate the Holidays and then will be back on the road for their first conference game of the season against Pitt-Bradford.
