Redhawks Clinch Second Conference Win: Three Redhawks scoring 20+ Points

Hamburg, PA- In their third conference game of the season the La Roche Redhawks (2-5, 1-1) look to take on the Hilbert Hawks (4-6, 0-2). 

Starting for the Redhawks are Isaiah Thomas (Ambridge, PA), Devon Darrell (Lockport, NY), Joe Pipilo (Bridgeville, PA), Kadyn Hannah (Murrysville, PA), and Michael Brooks (Grove City, PA). 

For the Hawks was Edward Perez (Clifton, NJ), Jon Evans (Buffalo, NY), Quran Briggs (Chance, MD), Shawn Gashi (East Syracuse, NY), and Eric Jackson (Queens Village, NY). 

First Half

The Hawks win the tip-off and they'll earn the first possession of the game. 

The Redhawks are the first on the board with a layup from Thomas.

Briggs for the Hawks to knock down a three pointer and just like that, we have a game. 

Briggs, again in the very next possession comes down the court and puts up a two point jump shot from the foul line which he connects on, 

Kaydn Hannah is the next Redhawk to put points on the board with a jump shot assisted by Thomas. 

Briggs for the hawks goes to the line, he goes one for two.  

Jordan Grayson comes into the game and hits a two point shot for LRU. 

Briggs, assisted by Shaheem Ellis, answers with a three point shot of his own (9-6, HC).

Perez goes to the line for the Hawks he sinks both, increasing the Hawk's lead to five. 

Joe Staryzynski hits for three, Redhawks are back within two. 

Desmond Ross ties up the game with a jump shop of his own; 11-11.  

Grayson takes back the lead for the Redhawks with a three point shot (14-11, LRU). 

Hamnah takes it in the paint and powers up for a layup, increasing the score for the Redhawks by two. 

Down on the other end of the court 

5 from the foul line for two, Hawks within one (16-15, LRU). 

A dunk for Joe Pipio puts (18-15) some breathing room between LRU and HC.

With 9:08 remaining in the period, the Hawks started to go on a run. La Roche didn't score for almost three full minutes, and during those three minutes the Hawks went on a 11-0 run. 

It wasn't until Hannah made a layup, and was fouled on the way up that the Redhawks started to come back to life. 

Hannah went for another two and put the Redhawks within five, now a two possession game. 

Grayson hit from three point range putting the Redhawks within two points; 3:30 remaining in the period. 

Grayson the next time down the court went up for the layup in the paint, and was fouled on the way. He completed the layup, tying the game, and had the opportunity to put the Redhawks in the lead at the foul line. 

Grayson connects; 32-31 Redxhawks. 

The lead doesn't last one last Michael Pollard for the Hawks goes to the line and hits both, putting HC back up by one. 

Briggs for the Hawks pushes the lead to three points with a jump shot from the elbow. 

Ellis hits for three, the score now 38-32, in favor of the Hawks.

Ross for LRU goes to the line for two, he hits the first, but misses the second; Redhawks down by five. 

Pipilo puts LRU back within two with a long three point shot. 

Grayson joins the club and sinks another three with seconds on the clock. 

The score at half : 40 Hillbert, 39 Redhawks. 

Second Half

To start out the second half Hilbert was the first on the board. 

LRU came back to tie it up the very next possession with a three point bucket from Joe Pipilo (42-42). 

Jackson for Hilbert took the lead back with a three of his own. 

The Redhawks from this moment always seemed to be within one to three points behind the Hawks until an opportunity for Devon Darrell took place, and then another one for Joe Staarzynski, giving the Redhawks back the lead by one with 12:44 remaining in the second half. 

Grayson went up for yet another three on the night and sank it, giving the Redhawks a lead of 59-57. 

This had the Hawks calling a timeout. 

It didn't take long however for the Hawks to tie it up once again with a made layup from Evans; 59-59. 

Grayson took back the lead with another three point shot, giving the Redhawks the lead once more. The very next possession he came down the court and did it all again, hitting yet another shot from three point range (65-61). 

The Redhawks increased the lead to 71 with 8:07 remaining the the half, finally gaining the momentum they were looking for in the first half. A big play to solidify this lead for the Redhawks was a dunk coming from Kadyn Hannah, assisted by Darrell.  

With 6:49 remaining the Hawks called a timeout; the score 75-65, LRU. 

Two made free throws from Hannah for the Redhawks increases the score by two. 

After a shot from Ellis put the Hawks within nine and another timeout was called. 

Grayson hits another three for the Redhawks maintaining their one point lead. 

Darrell adds a layup of his own to the scoreboard increasing the Redhawk lead to 12. 

Hilbert was never able to come back and take the lead after this. With one minute remaining the Hawks were down by eight points. 

The final score of the game was 91-82 in favor of the Redhawks. 

Final Standings

The leading scorer for the Hawks was Edward Perez. Perez totaled 16 points, six rebounds, one assist, and one block. 

Following closely behind was Quran Briggs with 14 points. 

Shaheem Ellis also added 13 points to the board tonight. He also contributed two rebounds and two assists. 

The final Hawk to reach double digits tonight was Eric Jackson with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists. 

The Redhawks had three main players that dominated the floor. 

First was Jordan Grayson. Grayson netted 27 points, six rebounds, two steals, two blocks, and one assist. 

Next was Devon Darrell who totaled 20 points in the book. Darrell also contributed six assists. 

The last Redhawk to reach double digits was Kadyn Hannah. Hannah had a total of 20 points, six rebounds, and two steals. 

Joe Pipilo tied with Hannah for leading rebounder, also having six on the night. 

Michael Brooks led the team in assists with seven.
