La Roche Wins AMCC Regular Season Championship, Zach Gould Scores 1000th Career Point

STEUBENVILLE, OH -- Zach Gould registered his 1000th career point and the Redhawks clinched their second straight AMCC Regular Season Title (3rd all-time) in their 66-51 victory at Franciscan on Wednesday night. La Roche will host the AMCC Tournament the weekend of February 23.

Gould surpassed the milestone with a three-pointer at the thirteen minute mark of the first half. Gould's three-pointer put La Roche ahead, and they never relinquished the lead.

Gould buried a second three-pointer to stretch the Redhawk lead to double figures with 2:08 left in the half. Tyler Frederick followed with a dunk, and despite a Franciscan buzzer beater, La Roche entered halftime with a 38-27 lead.

A Frederick layup and Austin Hannes three ran the La Roche lead to sixteen early in the second half. A Darius Lawrence three-pointer upped the lead to nineteen.

Franciscan limited the Redhawk offense for a majority of the second half. However, Franciscan could never get inside double digits as the Redhawks earned the AMCC Regular Season clinching victory.

La Roche shot 47% and held Franciscan to 39%. They won the rebounding battle 40-31 and limited the Barons to just one three-pointer.

Frederick scored a game-high 19 points. Gould scored 14 points.

Next up: Host Medaille, on senior day, February 9 at 4pm.
