Redhawks Surpass Century Mark, Top D'Youville 101-85

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The Redhawks surpassed the century mark, running away from D'Youville 101-85 on Saturday afternoon. The victory is La Roche's ninth straight and keeps them a perfect 12-0 in the AMCC. They are 17-2 on the season.

The first half was a shootout, with the Redhawks entering the lockerroom with a 58-49 advantage.

Both teams enjoyed leads over the opening seven minutes. Zach Gould hit a three pointer at the 12:55 mark to give the Redhawks a 17-15 lead, and La Roche followed with eight straight points to make it 25-17.

The Spartans would not allow the Redhawks to pull away, closing the gap to 42-40 with 4:39 left in the half. RayQuan Phifer responded with a three-pointer on the opposite end and La Roche followed with eight of the next ten points.

La Roche extended their lead to twelve points and entered the lockerroom up nine. Phifer, Gould, Austin Hannes, and Shawn Dunnings all reached double-figures in the first half.

D'Youville got things started with straight field goals, but Phifer drained a pair of threes for a ten point Redhawk lead. The La Roche defense took over, as they followed with twelve of the next fourteen points and a twenty point advantage.

The Redhawks built their lead to as many as twenty-eight points, and they went on to reach triple digit points.

Phifer finished with a game-high 24 points, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Dunnings had a strong performance, scoring 19 points on 8 of 11 shots. Gould and Hannes each provided 17 points, and Tyler Frederick 11 points. Frederick brought down 8 rebounds and Gould dished out 7 assists.

The Redhawks shot 47% (16 of 34) from three and 49% (40 of 81) from the floor.

The Redhawks begin a three-game road trip next Wednesday at Penn State Behrend.
