PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche baseball called an audible on Wednesday, as its field was not ready for their non-conference matchup against Chatham. Instead, the Redhawks and Cougars played at West Field in Munhall, home of Chatham, where La Roche was the home team, but fell to the Cougars 5-3.

The Redhawks just weren't able to get the bats going in the first six innings, being held to just three hits during that time.

Chatham took advantage of the cold La Roche bats, scoring a run in the top of the first and fourth innings, as well as two runs in the third inning, holding a 4-0 lead going into the seventh.

The Cougars would score their final run in the top of the seventh, but the Redhawks found some offense in the bottom half of the inning.

Ricky Heyz delivered the first run of the game for the red and black, doubling in Caden Maffitt.

Jamison Rhoades followed with an RBI groundout the next at bat as the score moved to 5-2.

La Roche had a golden opportunity in the bottom of the eighth, as Dimitri Gary started the inning with a triple.

Gary would score two batters later, thanks to a Chatham error as the score moved to 5-3.

Another error followed and with runners on first and third and just one out, a strikeout and fly out followed to end the final threat, as the Redhawks went down 1-2-3 in the ninth.

Four pitchers threw for La Roche, starting with Jared Hough who allowed three runs, two hits and walked three across 2.2 innings.

Cameron Mauk followed, allowing one run, one hit and struck out five in 2.1 innings.

Samuel DiCicco logged two innings in which he allowed a run and two hits, the Chris Tarquinio threw the final two innings allowing a hit, two walks and set down one.

Offensively, the Redhawks had six hits in the game, with Josh Dreyer being the only player with two hits, going 2-for-3.

La Roche is set to return home for more non-conference action tomorrow, Thursday, Apr. 11 when they host St. Vincent. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
