Redhawks Fall To Chargers In Myrtle Beach Finale

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – La Roche baseball closed its trip to the Ripken Experience with a matchup against Colby-Sawyer, falling to the Chargers 13-1 in seven innings.

Colby-Sawyer jumped ahead with four runs in the top of the first behind an RBI single, two-RBI triple and an RBI ground out.

Three more Charger runs were plated in the top of the third via an RBI double, a double steal and another RBI groundout, then four more runs crossed to make it 11-0 in the top of the fourth on a trio of RBI singles, one of which was of the two RBI variety.

The final two Colby-Sawyer runs crossed in the top of the fifth on an RBI single and a third RBI groundout.

The Redhawks lone run crossed in the bottom of the fifth, when Larry Bielawski drove in Ricky Heyz with an RBI double.

Jamison Rhoades got the start for La Roche, tossing 3.1 innings, allowing nine runs (eight earned), six hits, three walks and struck out three.

Colin Riordan tossed 0.1 inning and allowed two runs, three hits and one walk. He was followed by Samuel DiCicco who allowed two runs and two hits in 1.1 innings, while Eli Thomas closed out the game allowing one hit, one walk and struck out two in two innings.

Offensively, the Redhawks could only pull through with four hits, as four players each ended the game with one.

La Roche returns home, but stays on the road as they travel to Mount Union on Tuesday, Mar. 19 for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
