WASHINGTON, Pa. – La Roche baseball continued its road ventures of the early season, taking on Washington & Jefferson. Unfortunately, for the fourth time out of five games, the Redhawks were defeated by way of walk-off, 4-3.

The Presidents struck first in the bottom of the first, in what was a pitcher's duel over the first eight innings, as an RBI book-rule double made it 1-0.

W&J tacked on to the lead in the bottom of the third, as an RBI single upped the Presidents lead to 2-0.

Being held to just four hits over the first eight innings, the Redhawks caught fire offensively in the top of the ninth.

With two runners on and two outs, Brandon Snyder pulled through with an RBI single to make it 2-1, but on that very play, an error by the centerfielder allowed not only the second runner on base to score, but Snyder as well, giving La Roche a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.

Déjà vu struck the Redhawks in the bottom of the final frame, holding the one run lead.

After recording the first out, W&J received back-to-back singles and a walk to load the bases, followed by a game winning, two RBI single to steal the victory from La Roche.

Casey Jones took the bump for the Redhawks and delivered seven strong innings, allowing two runs (one earned), five hits, two walks and fanned six.

In relief, Chris Tarquinio allowed two runs, three hits, one walk and one strikeout, while Jamison Rhoades pitched to the final batter of the game.

Offensively, La Roche strung together seven hits, as Dimitri Gary and Josh Dreyer both put together 2-for-3 showings at the plate.

The Redhawks now prepare themselves for a stretch of seven games in seven days, as they head to the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The first game of the trip is on Sunday, Mar. 10 when they meet Fredonia for a 1:30 p.m. first pitch.
