La Roche Closes AMCC Season against Pioneers

PITTSBURGH, PA - La Roche Baseball played their final AMCC Conference regular season game this afternoon against the Pioneers of Alfred State. 

GAME ONE 

The Redhawks did their best to compete with the Pioneers, but after Alfred recorded two big three-run innings, La Roche could not fight their way back. 

Shane Murphy took the loss on the mound for the team this afternoon The hurler allowed five runs on six hits, over a total of five innings. The senior struck out two. 

Nathan Stutz went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Redhawks on offense. He also recorded 1 RBI. Kyle Weitzel led in RBIs with two, after knocking out a double and a sacrifice fly. 

GAME TWO

The Redhawks battled with the Pioneers again in game two. The game was a wet one, both teams had to fight through a consistent drizzle for the better part of four innings before things started to dry up, and then the sun came out. 

La Roche struggled to contain the Pioneers' offense, using five pitchers in the fight. Sam DiCicco ultimately took the loss on the mound for the team. The hurler gave up the seventh run to Alfred. DiCicco surrendered 4 runs on 3 hits, striking out 2. 

Despite the loss, the Redhawks collected 11 hits in today's contest. Jared Hough, Zach Keib, and Shane Murphy each earned multiple hits for La Roche. Hough was on top with 3 hits, and 3 RBIs after socking a 3-run homer over the fence. Stutz also hit a dinger fourth inning. 

With this game, La Roche closes their 2022-23 conference season. The Redhawks will play one more home game this upcoming Wednesday against Westminster; the start time is slated for 4 PM.
