La Roche Falls on the Road

La Roche Falls on the Road

ALTOONA, PA - This afternoon La Roche Baseball made the trek up Penn State Altoona to tussle with the Lions for a doubleheader conference matchup.

GAME ONE

It was a true battle against the Lions' pitcher for the Redhawks this afternoon. La Roche struggled to make a connection and recorded a total of 4 hits in game one.

Nathan Stutz was the sole owner of La Roche's run and RBI as he socked a home run over the left-centerfield fence in the top of the first. Unfortunately, the only run to score for the Redhawks in game one.

Jamison Rhoades took the loss on the mound for the team. The hurler surrendered 6 runs on 5 hits, striking out one matter. Dylan Chan came in relief to finish out the contest.

Tanner Kobal, Kyle Weitzel, and Zach Keib each recorded one hit against the Lions' hurler.

GAME TWO

In the second contest, the Redhawks' bats woke up and they were first on the board to start the game.

However, when the fourth inning came around, the Lions hit their stride, scoring seven runs to extend their lead to 10 runs.

La Roche never gave up and fought hard until the ninth inning. Josh Dryer in the ninth doubled down the left field line to push one run home. Zach Keib returned the favor, singling out to left field and pushing in two runs, cutting the Lions' lead down to half.

Their hard-fought final inning would not be enough to come back and earn the lead, and the Redhawks fell to the Lions.

Earning the loss on the mound is Cameron Mauk. The hurler allowed 3 runs on 1 hit, striking out 1. Sam DiCicco, Dylan Chan, and Allen Minck came in to throw out of the Redhawks' bullpen.

Dryer led the team offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate. He also earned 2 RBIs on the day.

Keib, Mason Brooks, and Jared Hough each earned a hit this afternoon. Kebi earned two RBIs of his own.

La Roche will be back on the road this Saturday against Pitt-Bradford, weather permitting.
