Baseball Competes at Ripken Experience Spring Training Event

LA ROCHE V PENN STATE BERKS (3/6/23)

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - La Roche University knocked in six runs in the second on its way to a 10-1 victory over Penn State Berks on Monday. 

The Redhawks got things moving in the first inning. Nathan Stutz drove in three when Stutz homered.

La Roche University batters contributing to a big second inning included Shane Murphy, Nate Darwin, Damon Foster, and Zach Keib, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

The team notched six runs in the second inning; offense in the inning came from singles by Murphy, Darwin, and Keib and a walk by Foster.

Garrett LeMaster took the win for La Roche. The right-hander allowed two hits and one run over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. Cameron Mauk threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Redhawks socked one home run on the day. Stutz went over the fences in the first inning.

La Roche tallied 11 hits in the game. Mason Brooks, Stutz, and Darwin each collected multiple hits for the team. Brooks led with three hits in four at-bats.

 

LA ROCHE V PENN COLLEGE (3/7) - GAME ONE

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Josh Dreyer was an RBI machine on Tuesday, driving in eight on three hits to lead the Redhawks past Penn College 13-7 in game one of their doubleheader.  Dreyer drove in runs on a grand slam in the fourth, a home run in the fifth, and a double in the sixth.

Bats blistered as La Roche collected ten hits and Penn College tallied seven in the high-scoring game.

The Redhawks pulled away for good with eight runs in the fourth inning.

In the fourth inning, an error scored one run for the team, Dreyer homered on a 1-0 count, scoring four runs. Tanner Kobal singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. To bring the scoring party home, Kyle Weitzel homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Jamison Rhoades recorded the win on the mound for La Roche. Rhoades lasted four innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out five. 

Cameron Mauk, Michael Rapneth, and Shane Murphy all came out of the bullpen in relief,  steering their team toward victory. Murphy recorded the last out to earn the save for the Redhawks.

The team tallied three home runs on the day. Dreyer had a four-bagger in the fourth and fifth innings. Weitzel had a homer in the fourth inning.

The Redhawks collected ten hits in game one. Dreyer and Nathan Stutz each collected multiple hits. Dreyer went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits. The team didn't commit a single error in the field. Nate Darwin had the most chances in the field with seven.

 

LA ROCHE V PENN COLLEGE (3/7/23) - GAME TWO

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Redhawks watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 9-4 loss to Penn College on Tuesday. The Wildcats took the lead on a home run in the first inning.

La Roche out-hit Penn College nine to seven but still couldn't come up with the win.

Allen Minck took the loss on the mound. The righty surrendered five runs on four hits over four innings, striking out two and walking one.

The Redhawks launched one home run in game two. Josh Dreyer had a long ball in the fourth inning, continuing his fantastic day at the plate. 

La Roche had nine hits in the game. Nathan Stutz and Kyle Weitzel each managed multiple hits. Stutz led with three hits in four at-bats.

  

LA ROCHE V EASTERN NAZARENE (3/9/23)

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Nothing came easy for the Redhawks in this morning's contest, as they fell 14-5 to Eastern Nazarene College.

Eastern Nazarene College captured the lead in the first inning and La Roche struggled to compete. 

The Redhawks tallied three runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower by the team was led by Kyle Weitzel and Nathan Stutz, both driving in runs in the frame.

Samuel DiCicco took the loss for La Roche on the mound. DiCicco surrendered seven runs on five hits over three innings.

 

LA ROCHE V BETHANY (W.V) (3/10/23)

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - La Roche fought back after falling down by five runs in the fifth inning, however, the comeback fell just short by one run, and the Redhawks fell 8-7 to the Bethany Bison. 

La Roche managed five runs in their fight to come back. Nate Darwin, Zach Keib, Josh Dreyer, and Dylan Chan came through with RBIs to lead the rally.

The team scored three runs in the eighth inning in their attempt to pull ahead for a victory. The offense was led by Dreyer, Chan, and Darwin, all driving in runs in the inning, putting up their best effort to tie up or take the lead late in the ball game.

Shane Murphy was credited with the loss for the Redhawks. The right-hander surrendered seven runs on nine hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one.

In the end, La Roche totaled ten hits. Keib and Mason Brooks each collected multiple hits on the day. Keib led with three hits in four at-bats.

 

LA ROCHE V JOHNSON & WALES (3/11/23)

La Roche watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 14-1 loss to the Johnson & Wales Wildcats. 

The Redhawks struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Wildcats, giving up 14 runs.

Garrett LeMaster took the loss on the hill for the team. The righty lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while walking one.

Nathan Stutz, Danny McCaffrey, Zach Keib, and Josh Dreyer each collected one hit for La Roche. 

The Redhawks will be back at home on the 15th against Mount Union.
