PITTSBURGH, PA - On this rainy day at the Baierl Athletic Complex there was an hour and 25 minute delay before the Panthers and the Redhawks were finally able to play ball. Regrettably, it was not a winning game.
Pitt-Bradford got the early jump on La Roche with four runs scored on five hits in their first round at bat, starting with Kevin Rehak blasting a lead off home run into center field. The Panthers went all the way through their line up in the first inning.
Once the first inning was over the Redhawks were back to playing the game they know how to play.
Zack Oddi hung tough on the mound without any runs scored for the next three innings, but the Redhawks were unsuccessful at the plate, leaving runners on base each inning.
Oddi didn't continue the trend and let in four more runs in the top of the fifth before Christian Meleldez was called to take his place with two outs and a runner on second.
Oddi during his time on the mound allowed eight runs and 13 hits. He struck out three batters.
Melendez was able to strike out the final batter of the inning looking.
The Redhawks were not able to make contact with the baseball and lefthander Alex Fetter will record a shutout for game one of this double header.
Christian Meledez was able to hold the Panthers to eight runs and he only allowed two more hits during his time on the mound
