Baseball Drops Double-Header at Mt. Aloysius

Mt. Aloysius 7 La Roche 3

Starting pitcher Tre Thomas rolled through the first two innings, sending Mt. Aloysius down in order in both.

The Redhawks struck with a run in top of the second inning. Jay Novak reached on an error and swiped second base to advance into scoring position. Brandon Nania drove in Novak for a 1-0 lead.

La Roche added a pair in the top of the fourth. Joe Professori led off the inning with a single and took second on an error. Novak singled up the middle to score Professori. Tristen Tinney then doubled home Novak in the next at bat.

Mt. Aloysius struck for three runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth.

The Redhawks had runners on second and third base in the seventh, but they could not convert and Mt Aloysius earned the win.

Thomas allowed just one earned run over five innings. Professori had 3 hits and Novak scored twice.


Mt. Aloysius 5 La Roche 3

The Redhawks grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game 2. Hoffman and Professori led off with singles and both scored on Mountie errors.

Mt. Aloysius went down in order in the first, but a second inning homer tied it up. The Mounties added two more on two-out runs in the third.

La Roche cut the deficit back to one in the fourth. Shane Roebuck led off with a triple and trotted home on a Tinney sac fly.

Mt. Aloysius answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth, but a 1-2-3 fifth, and sixth inning Kifer RBI single made it 4-3.

The Mounties belted a homer in the bottom of the seventh and held on.

Hoffman went 3 for 3 with a double, triple, and run. Tinney scored and drove in a run.
