NCAA Mideast Regional: Tunstall Goes Seven Strong But #3 La Roche Falls to #7 Adrian 1-0, Will Play #8 Wabash Today at 3pm

ADRIAN, MI -- Nick Tunstall gave #3 La Roche seven strong innings but the Redhawks fell to #7 Adrian 1-0 in an NCAA Mideast Regional matchup on Saturday. La Roche will play #8 Wabash at 3pm in an elimination game.

Tunstall tossed a scoreless first inning. Adrian got on base with a seeing eye single, but a great pick by first baseman Jonathan Melendez ended the inning.

The Redhawks got thrown out trying to steal in the second. Adrian got two abroad in the bottom of the second but Tunstall used a groundout to second to end the threat.

La Roche stranded a runner in the third but Tunstall got a groundball and a 6-4-3 inning ending double play to close the third.

Tunstall continued to deal. He used a strikeout to leave a runner at second in the fourth and a groundout to end the fifth.

Adrian got on the board with a sacrifice fly in sixth. The Bulldogs loaded the bases with one out, but Tunstall used two straight strikeouts to limit the damage.

La Roche got a pair aboard in the seventh. Joe Professori drew a 3-1 walk and Gino Quahliero singled to left field. A flyout and two strikeouts let Adrian maintain a one run lead.

Tunstall used a web gem by third baseman Elmo Trickett to get through the bottom of the inning.

Jonathan Melendez led off the eighth with a double down the left field line. Dylan Urban was hit by a pitch to get runners on first and second. A fielder's choice kept runners at first and second and a double play ended the inning.

Jake Seymour came in relief and tossed a perfect bottom of the eighth.

The Redhawks continued to battle and got two aboard in the top of the ninth. Professori slid into first base to edge out an infield single. Gino Quahliero dropped a bunt to advance Professori and Shane Roebuck singled to get runners on the corner. However a 4-6-3 double play ended it.

Tunstall was excellent. He allowed just one run and four hits over over seven innings.

Professori reached base three times.
