Ten Redhawks Named to the AMCC All-Conference Team, Thomas Pitcher of the Year, Novak Co-Newcomer of the Year, Rowe Coach of the Year

Ten Redhawks were honored as All-Conference Performers when the AMCC announced their postseason awards today. Tre Thomas was named the AMCC Pitcher of the Year. Jay Novak is the AMCC Co-Newcomer of the Year. Chase Rowe earns Coach of the Year.

Tre Thomas is the AMCC Pitcher of the Year and an All-Conference First Teamer. Thomas had a sophomore year to remember, leading the AMCC with 8 wins and a 1.48 ERA. He ranked among the top pitchers in the country. He climbed as high as third nationally in ERA and ranked fourth in the AMCC with 63 strikeouts. He was named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team and was twice AMCC Pitcher of the Week.

Jay Novak is the AMCC Co-Newcomer of the Year and an All-Conference Third Teamer. Novak led the Redhawks with 41 RBIs. He hit .359 with 56 hits, 33 runs, 11 stolen bases, and 8 doubles. He was also a plus fielder, throwing out 3 runners from right field.

For the fifth year in a row, and seventh time in the past eight years, Coach of the Year honors goes to La Roche head coach Chase Rowe. Rowe led the Redhawks to a 16-2 conference record and their fifth consecutive regular season and conference tournament titles.

Shane Emrich was the top relief pitcher in the AMCC and was honored with a spot on the First Team. Emrich led the AMCC with 7 saves and 19 appearances. Batters hit just .125 against him and he did not allow an earned run in conference play. He also struck out nearly two batters per inning.

Gino Quahliero had a fantastic sophomore campaign and was rewarded with a spot on the All-Conference First Team. He played plus defense and hit .364 with 34 runs, and 17 RBIs. He ranked third in the AMCC with 18 steals.

Jonathan Spina makes the First Team after receiving Third Team honors last season. Spina consistently ranked among the league's elite all-around players. He led the AMCC in plate appearances, at bats, hits, and triples. He ranked second in stolen bases, third in runs, fourth in batting average, sixth in total bases, and seventh in on base percentage. He finished the regular season with a .420 batting average, 76 hits, 48 runs, and 38 RBIs.

Joe Professori is on the All-Conference First Team after appearances on the Second and Third Teams that past two seasons. Professori is one of the most versatile players on the team and one of the most consistent bats. He hit .377 with 61 hits, 41 runs, 39 RBIs and tied for the AMCC lead with 6 triples.

Shane Roebuck moves up to the Second Team after being named to the Third Team last season. Roebuck has anchored the backstop for the past three seasons and is a strong defensive catcher. He also brought big bat to the lineup, with a .357 batting average, 32 RBIs, 29 runs, and a team-high 12 doubles.

Regis Sauer is an All-Conference selection for the fourth time and a third teamer for the third time. Sauer had a strong senior season. He picked up four wins and ranked third in the AMCC in strikeouts per inning and fourth in ERA. He ranks among the school's all-time leaders in wins and strikeouts. He was also named AMCC Pitcher of the Week.

Nick Tunstall has been named to the AMCC All-Conference Third Team. The 2017 AMCC Pitcher of the Year had a strong junior season. Tunstall ranked second in the AMCC with a 2.51 ERA. He ranked third with seven wins and fifth with 52 strikeouts. The big game pitcher earned the victory in the AMCC Championship Game.
