Podvasnik Belts Grand Slam as Redhawks Sweep Otterbein

PITTSBURGH, PA – Corey Podvasnik hit a grand slam and had 6 RBIS over 2 games as La Roche swept Otterbein 15-6, 9-6 on Monday afternoon. The sweep sets a school-record for most regular season wins.

Otterbein loaded the bases with no outs in the first, but the Redhawks limited the damage to just one run. Franzee Barlamas threw out a Cardinal trying to score from second base to end the inning. La Roche responded in the bottom half of the first.

Colin Feikles lined a double off the left field wall to score Colin Williamson while Feikles and Podvasnik also scored runs. La Roche broke it open with a seven run third inning.  Barlamas, Watson, Feikles and Navedo drove in runs and Dylan Wolsonvich found the left field gap for a 2-run double. The Redhawks added five more runs in the sixth including the grand slam by Podvasnik deep over the centerfield wall.

Podvasnik went 3 for 3 with 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. Feikles and Navedo each had 2 hits and 2 runs while Williamson scored 3 times.

Walt Hadjuk struck out 6 in 5 innings to earn his 15th career win.

In game 2, the Redhawks scored a run in the first inning and six more in the second to go up 7-2. A pair of RBI doubles by Feikles and 2 runs by Williamson highlighted the innings. Barlamas added a run in the third and Williamson tripled and scored in the fourth.

Williamson went 3 for 4 and scored twice while Feikles and Watson both hit in two runs. David Lemley threw 5 innings to earn the victory and Brady Hamer registered the save.

La Roche Baseball will host Marietta in a single 9-inning game tomorrow. First pitch is 1pm.
