Fall and Winter Sports Update

NORTH BOSTON, NY - Friday afternoon, the Presidents' Council of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) voted to postpone a majority of NCAA intercollegiate athletic competition until January 1st, 2021, amidst continued concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. The Conference is committed to moving NCAA intercollegiate competition of the affected sports to the spring, with various models currently in discussion.

The La Roche fall/winter sports that have intercollegiate competition postponed until 2021 include basketball, cross country, soccer, and volleyball. The conference postponed a decision on the AMCC women's bowling round robin until September 15th. The tournament is currently scheduled for November and alternative competition dates are tentatively scheduled for February.

Men's golf and women's tennis status for fall competition is still under evaluation. The AMCC stated they will hold a conference championship in the fall as long as a minimum of four teams are committed to competing.The AMCC stated in their release that "The Presidents Council will continue to evaluate plans for men's golf and women's tennis in the fall, as well as the January return of the remaining fall semester sports, over the coming months.  Future actions regarding revisions to this plan will be informed by science and established guidelines from governments and governing bodies." The conference's full release can be viewed HERE. UPDATE 8/12/2020: Men's golf and women's tennis has also been postponed until January 2021. All La Roche sports, except for women's bowling, are now officially postponed until 2021. A decision on the women's bowling varsity season will be announced at a later date.
